You swell Bloated puff adder Slinking out of your earthen trough Striking the valley villages
before sliding back to you rut

Signs of the TsunamiSurging churning waves arch over the shore They fall on the inhabitants like a clumsy giant A savage band of pirates Plundering the beaches Taking the seaside properties by force It gnaws at the shoreline Ripping the palm trees from their rootsSigns of the Tsunami
Chewing Grinding them between its glittering white swells
The contents of a stomach expelled Wounded starving animal Unhinging its wet, dripping jaws to swallow
Defenseless grains and specks of coast Ravenous, rapacious beast

ParchedYour tears fall in torrents of desert rain Bone dry river beds surging with the roaring water Their washed-out channels plump and swollen with wet A Bedouin sun's greedy rays lightly grazeParched
Parched earth of sand and clay The rough harsh hands of the wasteland wind Cup your chin, dab at the salty stream

NeglectYour corners are rounded by scraping Rough handling Bumps with desks, clumsy rearrangements Top down and your yellowing keys unused, uncovered Corner of the room Once grand Coupled with a mismatched cane chair Chipping film of varnish under a coat of dust Your tired frame is left to retirementNeglect
